Union Representatives Meet Canada’s Special Envoy to Discuss Democracy and Human Rights

Yesterday, October 29, 2024, representatives of the Union of Human Rights Activists met with David Sproul, Canada’s special representative for our country.

This conversation focused on Canada’s role in supporting our country’s democratic aspirations and addressing basic human rights concerns, including gender apartheid, the challenges of displaced people, and countering the normalization of the Taliban terrorist group. And while referring to the recent approval of the Canadian Parliament regarding the recognition of the genocide of the Hazaras, Canada’s decisive position towards the Taliban as a terrorist group was emphasized.

Mr. Sproul assured the friendship and support of Canada to the people of our country. It was also reminded of Canada’s initiative with its partners to pursue the Taliban due to gender discrimination.

Etihad representatives also emphasized the need to prevent any attempt to normalize the Taliban, both politically and legally.
